Adventure Boot Camp for Women

I drug my behind out of bed at 5:30 this morning to start my day off with a little boot camp exercise. I was worried I wouldn't be able to locate the group since Manito Park is fairly large, and it was not specified as to where we would be meeting in the park. Luckily as soon as I neared the park, the considerably large amount of women sprawled out across the tennis courts gave it away. Since, I didn't get a morning coffee prior to heading to the park, I was feeling a little groggy and not ready for the morning's activities ahead of me. However, after a few minutes of run, skip, jog, jump, roll over, I was as alert as I could be.

My legs and arms feel like jello now, but I take that as a good sign that I was in major need of a vigorous workout. Apparently the work outs at the gym I have been doing have not prepared me enough. The great thing about the class is that no one feels out of place because the class is filled with college aged girls, older ladies, in shape, out of shape, first timers, and repeat customers. It was a great morning of new experiences (and new pain) without one ounce of a feeling of judgement.

I forgot to take pictures this morning of the class due to my being very distracted, but I will make sure to take some tomorrow. If you are considering taking one of these classes then you can check them out at www.youradventurebootcamp.com. As a little cautionary disclaimer, though, if you do sign up for one of these boot camps and consider yourself to be at a beginner exercise level, then 8 lb free weights may not be for you. I thought I could handle it as 5 lbs sounded easy-peasy, but I was wrong. I can barely lift my arms above my head right now. Well, I can, but not without making an obnoxious whining sound.

So far, the class gets an A from me, but we will see how I feel tomorrow morning :).

Blog ya later,

Dani Spokane
